'09 BET Awards

Keri Hilson I started off liking this performance, though it took a turn for the worse near the 3:22 mark where she started singing a capella. WTF moment of the night indeed! How terrible. Despite the wardrobe choice and the Elvis Presley dancing, I still love that put her all into an energetic show. Kudos and light tapps on the shoulder. Keyshia Cole & Monica - Trust Perfect performance. I loved Keyshia's outfit and hair, but I simply hate monica's style - so villainish. I need her to be a real woman, but the voice far surpassed Keyshia's for sure. Monica's return to music will be a welcomed one. Best performance of the night except for.................. Ne-yo hogging all the talent, lol! This is how you put it down. Neo knew his best move was to bring that dancer on stage, she is awsome. Who is she? I can't remember much else. Beyonce, Tevin, Ciara, among others were all trash last night. Everything else was so mediocre, yes everything. The Levert rendition by Tyrese, Johnnie, and Trey was mild at best. The body language and eye contact was horrible, and then Johnnie was trying to be the lead.............just horrible. And what was up with the sound and bleeping last night? Folks were cussing, Jamie couldn't tell when they were on..... it was a freakin' mess. Only other thing totally right was Janet..........banger for life.

MJ dies at 50

While most are mourning Mike's death and giving their best shot at the Moonwalk - I have been losing the battle of trying to hard to become sincerely affected by his death. Sorry. I know in the Bible it says to mourn with those who mourn. I surely feel for his mother and family, especially his children. Though, and this man is not properly mourned or buried, I know that Mike needed some rest. Some people are calling him an angel, saying he went straight to heaven.......I am not going there. I didn't even know this man. I liked some of his music somehow without purchase, and I really like to see him dance, but after the whole physical appearance change, the Lisa Marie thing, and then the molestation trial - I have somehow detached from this situation and Mike. When I was really young I remember learning 'We are the World' and I loved his part. I can remember how my teachers and friends placed him in such high regard like he was the greatest. And I adored him in 'The Wiz'. Now that I am older and he has passed I feel guilty for not joining the movement of fans that he had. Guilty for not learning the moonwalk, or his songs. I will say this though, I'm sure he didn't feel like the idol that people made him out to be. And honestly speaking I thought he was Jehovah's Witness? Whatever he was, however he passed, whatever happened in his life - I pray his affairs were in order, because there is a maker.

Married life.................................

I've been having it rough relationship wise lately. Me and my boo are so sick of one another and seem to be finding every reason available to torment, criticize, and attack each other. It's been brutal. My fault, his fault, blah blah blah.........all that faulting goes out the window after a while, so to equate matters - We're both wrong. In discussion with a common law married woman, I shared my feelings of post honeymoon interactions among married folks, and how I see relationships last the longest. I explained that, among other things, once the romantic googly eyes stop rolling and you regain focus of your long term goals things simply just mellow out. I then started dealing with the most asinine and irritating issues like snoring and farting in bed, to share or not a share a closet, similar food interests and differences, what time to go to bed, when to have secks, and then the baby came. Kids throw a monkey wrench in all grown folks special moments. Consideration for the little ones is important, but can really smother a flame when the time is right. There's nothing like you're on your way there, to hear 'Mommy'. Well the stage that I'm in as of late is dealing with hurt from some cheating my boo did. It's been real hard. I got ahold to some e-mails shared between the two and the words choked some life out of our relationship. I tried to get over it, and was on my way until I saw that they are still communicating, which says to me that he doesn't care how I feel and will do whatever satisfies his own selfish desires. But karma is a bad-hand dealing whore of satan, and everything comes back around. To just be real - this is probably some karma for me too, karma comes when it wants to not always right away. So that's where I am. Trying my damnedest to harvest some joy, to try and move on. Though to the woman who was saying how marriage has been good to her (common law), I encouraged her but felt that it's just not the same ride as standing before a man-of-God vowing to share everything, love forever, and the whole thick and thin thing. Common law, shacking up, boyfriend girlfriend, long distance, gay relationships are all in the same boat to me. If there is a time when enough is enough and it can not be patched up and you just (like it's that easy) walk away and don't see a judge then the decision to leave was less weighted than a married couple. Feel me? Knowing you can leave whenever you want is more than enough reason to not give your all, to still have extra relationships, to fight unfairly, to hide money, to keep secrets, to avoid the compromise. But if you marry, marry someone who really tickles you like none other, someone who can entertain you on those boring days and nights when sexks is not on the menu. Laughter and deep conversations can be better and more intimate than some good hot sweaty slow rollin'. Just choose someone like minded, or someone who bends to your convincing, someone that really likes who you are at your core beyond the snoring and morning breath. I'm staying prayerful, parying for grace and stregnth. Thanking God for my husband, my family, and these lessons of love. I'm in Mark 4 at the Parable of the Sower. In this world the Christian's life is a battle and a march. God calls us to grow in grace and in knowledge of Him. As Jesus explained in this parable, some people start well but do not complete the journey; the seed sprouts but never bears fruit.

Wednesday Wrap-up

Okay, so it's been dry as far as good gossip is concerned, except for Mr. Brown's plea of guilt, Chris that is - so many browns guilty right? Antywayz....so I wasn't going to comment on Golden Brooks being pregnant......she is so talented and super boring why would I? Well, she's having a baby with Ugmo DB Woodside, case closed. If, just IF I had to say something it would be that in the entertainment industry it is almost better to have your children out of wedlock as to not have name changes, and nasty divorces (not to mention big break fame & fortune). So yeah. Another item of mild interest is this Jill Scott break from her boyfriend drummer Lil' John Roberts. They welcomed their baby just April 20th. I'm forcing myself to comment when I feel that I shouldn't. BUT! After falling in LOVE with her No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series - I have done some pretty conclusive research to find that I don't care for her personality. She's much softer that I would prefer her to be. Out on a limb I could detect some self esteem issues and unresolved issues with her sexuality. some pain, some hurt. A commenter once said something to the effect that black women simply chose Jill to be resident heroine simply because of her potential and identifiability. I still praise her talent, but need Jill to work that out. To get off the relationship tip - A survey performed by an eight member panel reports that (only) 60,000 prison inmates claim rape in 2009. They went on further to say that Texas led the rate prison rape sighting guard/inmate ratio cultured this type of crime among others i.e, drugs, cellphones, weapons, messaging. I tried to read the report since I love interesting non-fiction - but the report is massive. The panel were able to say that short small young men and gays were most at risk, followed by women, immigrants, etc. No surprise to the fact a problem exists, but only 60,000? yeah whatever. My suggestion to anyone is to avoid prison. Lastly, Laila Ali's husband Ex Pro-Footballer Curtis conway's ex-wife Leoria Sanamu Conway has held laila in court all this week trying to get at her money. Leoria feels that her husband has is swimming in money since being married to Laila and that his children should have a similar lifestyle, so Leoria has requested Laila's financial records, inheritance and potential inheritance be presented to the court. I know this Leoria chick doesn't want none. Doesn't she know about Laila's hands? If she doesn't she will, and kudos to Laila for handling her business like a woman. I hope she doesn't have to comeoff a dime to support her husbands children. They'll profit anyway, If Leoria was smart she should encourage a relationship between her children and Laila, but you know how ignorant and petty baby-mama's can be. Did I mention petty, ignorant, foolish, and immature? Oh and North Korea warned today that they will wipe America off the map. Click here to find out why? I'm up to date, especially on the current ongoing conflicts, but it seems that Obama is more concerned with the healthcare reform than with being the ruler of the most influential country on this planet. I'mma need him to learn how to multitask. Let Michelle do some, I sure she's apt.

Guilty

I was thoroughly pleased and disappointed all at the same time when I heard that Chris Brown plead guilty yesterday in a California courtroom with Rhianna present. Crazy huh? A part of me is proud of him sorting out this melee and handling this as a businessman and a man. I wasn't there the night in question, though I just had hoped somehow because of his cheating ways she had went all upside his head causing him to run over a few mailboxes and a stop-sign before he got out and ended all that. I hope that she got in a few good ones that he'll remember. His guilty plea has left a sour taste in my mouth that nothing but a refreshing open courtTV OJ styled battle fitted with celebrity witness testimony/ comedy could remedy. Damn. Rhianna looked great, her hair especially. She was there fully ready to tes-ti-fy! Looked ready to tell it all, every last gushy detail. I wasn't on her side at first. I had hoped she went ballistic, busting him in his head with her phone, grabbing the wheel, shifting the gears of the car in the struggle, even taking off her shoes and using them as a weapon.........something ubberly surpassing the photo of her with the devil horns. Pictures of Chris never came out, but some great nude photos of Rhi did, Thanks Chris. I still say that I could see her antagonizing Chris at the Pre-Grammy party on the evening the fight happened. His childish body language spoke volumes. You could tell he was pissed, mad he had to come and with her. But she put on a show, smiling, placing her arm around Chris, hugging him. It was over and she was pushing it. Shame he did that girl like that and the only restitution from his plea is a lengthy probation and a stay-away order. They say some women's groups still want to crucify him, but I will put this one to rest and move on. Good luck ya'll two.

Lifehouse Everything Skit

Many are calling the "Lifehouse Everything Skit" a phenomena, but it is so much more than that, as more and more continue to fall in love with Jesus or revive their relationship with Him after watching it. The skit was originally performed at the 2006 Smoky Mountain Winterfest in Knoxville, Tenn. It packed 30,000 into the Tennessee Volunteers' Thompson-Boling arena each night, and has deeply impacted God's Kingdom ever since. In a society caught up with Oscars and Golden Globes, those involved in the production of the "Everything Skit" received a much greater reward than any golden figurine could ever deliver -- witnessing changed lives. The drama focuses on the spiritual warfare being fought for our souls. At the beginning of the skit, the young woman indulges in the pure joy and innocence of finding her first love in Jesus, as He shows her all the wonderful things He has done and has in store for her. But this blissful moment becomes tarnished by seemingly harmless distractions, which turn into temptations and ultimately into deadly sins. The fallen spiritual forces at work begin their relentless attack on the young woman, who takes her eyes off Jesus and sets them on the world. click for more.

Usher Files for Divorce

Looks like one of R&B’s most hated couples is calling it quits for good. The rumor mill has been a blaze with an initial report by InTouch magazine claiming that Usher Raymond filed for divorce early Thursday morning (June 11). The couple was reluctant to comment when it was found that official files had not surfaced at the Fulton county courthouse Thursday afternoon. However, the real divorce confirmation was revealed Friday morning. The troubled couple has been the source of public ridicule since the beginning of their two year marriage. Some speculated as to whether or not this was just a publicity stunt. Even popular gossip site, Bossip.com, quoted an industry insider saying, “At this point Tameka doesn’t want to get divorced and everyone in her camp is thinking that he’s just doing this as a publicity stunt to sell more records. – like another Confession’s record.” Sources spilled to People that Usher has not been home often, where Tameka Foster and their two boys, Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd, 6 months reside. He's done his best to keep Tameka away," says the source.

Iranian Sham Election

Not sure if you or anyone is following the conflicts going on in Asia right now, but Iran's election is being boycotted becuase the citizens believe the president is merely a puppet for their religeous Supreme Leader. Click here for for information.
The mullahs’ Supreme Leader controls all the levers of power within the clerical regime, and the president is simply a puppet. In accordance with Article 110 of the regime’s constitution, the Supreme Leader formulates the regime’s policies, and is responsible for appointing senior commanders of the military, police and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as the highest judicial authorities, the head of the state-run radio and TV, and the clerics of the Guardian Council. The Guardian Council, according to Articles 93 and 99 of the constitution, monitors all elections and vets all candidates. Election laws stipulate that all elected officials must “be spiritually devoted to the Supreme Leader and obligated to him in practice.”

Gardens of the Night directed by Damian Harris

Synopsis: An 8-year-old girl is taken from her home and convinced that her family does not want her anymore. After enduring 9 years of horror, she and her fellow victim are dumped by their captures. Now, 17 years old and no one to turn to, except each other they do their best to survive life on the streets, until one day she finally accepts the help of a shelter counselor to find her way home. However, what she truly finds is the love of her life and that you can never go back. "Gardens of the Night", is a haunting, gritty and topical story which delves deep into the world of child abduction and where it often leads...for the "lucky ones." The writer/director, Damian Harris bases his story on the kids, counselors, cops and pimps he met during two years of research. My take: The subject of abduction & molestation is a hard truth. Attention is the key to prevention and education is the key. Support the AmberWatch Foundation whose mission it to provide education and tools to parents and children on how to stay safe from abduction and molestation. Movies like this help drive home the importance of this mission. Applaud the film makers and actors in this film! The performances are so real, this is what happens. Seeing the affect on the victims is compelling and true - if only the victims had known how to avoid abduction this would not have happened. It shows how many lives are touched and changed forever by one single act. I encourage everyone to see this movie and take advantage of any preventative tool you can get to safeguard your loved ones from a similar fate.

Usher and his new Side-Piece

In yesterday's post entitled, 'Divorce' Usher was blatantly flashing his ring finger sans wedding ring. Personally I'm glad, I didn't think that Usher and Tameka Foster were a good match, and didn't seem fully happy together. And I remember several pictures of Tameka in the airport flying solo after a near-death experience at the hands of the notorious Brazilian plastic surgeons. Tale is that she was getting a tummy tuck only a few months after her little baby was born. I haven't heard ANTYTHING about the other baby, mind u. Was it a girl? Was it Ushers? Does it matter? kind of. I don't blame Usher, but he's definitely showing some level of recklessness, which I don't eBut nonetheless he has been caught with a big-leg high-yellow woman in California. See what bossip shares:
For months the rumor mill said that Usher and Tameka were going downhill since her near death experience and surgery slip in Brazil. Well, Tameka and her crazy antics may have driven “Ersher” into the arms of this lady up top. The mystery lady and Usher were seen going in and out of Usher’s Santa Monica Hotel…at one in the morning last night too. There is nothing to explain or excuse Usher for bringing a pretty girl into his hotel room so late at night.

Divorce

With all the new summertime hook-ups (Christina Millian and The Dream, Keyshia Cole and Bobbie Gibson, Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen, lol)you wouldn't think there was room for separation and divorce, but coat-tail rider Kelly Rowland and Beyonce are finally on ice, Tameka Foster's husband Usher isn't wearing his ring anymore, and Kelis further outed her husband Nas as a cheater via Twitter. Giving up in a relationship is the hardest thing to do, because you're still in their face. However if you endure disrespect and mistreatment from your spouse and there's no love even after you try without tiring, then go. No one would condemn a person who resolved a personal problem as they see fit. I always pay attention to couples in how they treat one another and under speculation there's love, respect, enjoyment........but people at their core are just not what they portray. Yeah yeah, it's a roller-coaster, up and down, but don't be mean or neglectful. Michelle Obama speaks of her marital problems:
Wolffe writes that Michelle Obama “hated the failed race for Congress in 2000, and their marriage was strained by the time their youngest daughter, Sasha, was born a year later.” “There was little conversation and even less romance,” Wolffe writes. “She was angry at his selfishness and careerism; he thought she was cold and ungrateful.” When Obama ran for the Senate in 2004, his wife still had mixed feelings about her husband’s love of politics, and played no part in the campaign, the book says. By the time Obama decided to run for president, the couple’s two children were older and Michelle Obama was more supportive. “We’re going to be fine,” the book quotes her as saying. “We just have to make sure the girls are fine. We’re strong enough to take anything on and be OK at the end.”
source In the spirit of rectification (lol good word), Akon gives it to us straight in his new single, 'Be with You'(Click to listen or download). He talks about hanging in there despite how you've hurt one another, how people don't know what you go through - but still moving on. I love my husband and we go through too. Honestly I look at my grandparents and see how they made it, 52 years in august, and without doubt I am sure I'm up for the ride, which is full of sharing everything, children, finances, sex, health, cooking, job changes, etc., family problems, struggles. I just pray for strength, grace, vision, and thank God for hope and sense to not give up. Hang in there.

Response: ummm ms. mo'nique....GIRL....

Fellow blogger and homie Crys (The Crystal Method) wonders where is Mo'nique and What's tea? Well I was a tad concerned as well becuase I miss Mo' and loved her radio show also. I looked around and Ya girl Mo' is hooked up with Oprah, has a new perfume, clothing line (rumored for years), has a new latenite show coming on BET, and Precious will finally be released this fall. I can't wait. Mo’Nique is a hustler. From comedy tours to sitcoms to book deals the ex-Nikki Parker stays on her grind. If you didn’t know that already, you definitely caught wind of her entrepreneurial skills comedy-themed episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah's Comedy Hour Knowing Oprah’s blessing is worth more than a winning lottery ticket, Mo’Nique pulled out a sample of her perfume line from her bra and let Oprah know that she’s put some things on layaway for her kids and if she liked her fragrance those items were as good as sold. Since Oprah gave her blessing, I’m sure you can now expect a bunch of middle-aged women smelling like the essence of Mo’Nique later this year. In addition to pushing her fragrance, Mo’Nique discussed some of her upcoming projects –including her upcoming late night talk show on BET. If she’s anywhere near as funny as she was on Oprah’s show, we may have found a talk show host who will finally fill the void left by Arsenio Hall. While Mo’Nique got plenty of laughs on stage she also got serious when discussing her role in the movie, Precious. The film – premiering in the fall – earned Mo’Nique a special recognition for acting at this year’s Sundance Festival. I, like you Crys, was crcking up after work, sister is funny for real....and her callers were too real and funny as well. But Mo is working out and getting healthy, for some new ventures that will surley bring the laughs with a tinge of 'serious' only Mo'nique offers. Check her working out on the beach in the next video and, lastly, her latest interview with Barack Obama. Monique on Big People Working out. Mo'nique interviews Barack Obama source

What's going on with Nas and Kelis?

I always loved this couple - no kids, and married for real. She seemed supportive of her man and he of her, they seemed totally happy with each other. I felt they had an open marriage - just based on the obvious freindship they shared. A year ago there was some talk that Kelis had a secks tape out, existence never founded, and quite frankly I wonder, if did exist, was Kelis with and another woman. Hmm? The the pregnancy and now the split. But this morning I hear that Nas is a closet homo! This explains the photos of he and Maxwell partying it up the other night down in the Turks and Caicos, and you know how folks get down there. Kelis Twitters a message this morning insenuating Nas and Maxwell were getting it ON! I just want these two to hammer out thier problems in private or get back together. I thought Kelis was the wild factor in this relationship - but from the looks of these pictures - Nas is ready to Set it Off with Max gand a gang of girls! While I won't endorse Kelis' biswexual activities - I won't put her up on the cross either. She just needs to act more ladylike and be a good mother to her new baby. These DL fools are just not worth it. There are men out there with cash and sense, that want a supportive sexy female not scared of her sexuality.
