To Thine Own Self Be True - Aristocats

Introducing a segment of my blog 'To Thine Own Self Be True'. I must relate to the world a bit of me, it's what God wants - for us to share sometimes. This past Saturday, I watched Aristocats with my daughter for the 100th time, but I came away from the movie with a much different perspective. Before I go there, I might add that while watching Aristocats - I realized that part of me consists of another character in another movie - Boomerang. Remember the Martin Lawrence Character that could find the underlying racism in anything? Yeah, part me. You have to watch the movie or remember the movie, catch up uptop and throught the other parts.
This is the underlying racism summary of this story as I see it. Now no matter how far away I get we are talking about a woman, her pet cat and her kittens.

A rich white girl had some illegitimate babies - 1 white little girl, a brown boy that had the most potential, and the rough black boy. Her mother accepted the cats as her legal grandchildren despite the lack of a father and planned to provide for them and the mother - by naming them in the will and getting everything. Cats though, seriously. The mother had no family, except for a friendly gentleman and lawyer that offered support and advice - and offered the voice of reason and the most honest, sometimes a bit biased, perspective, the mom's friend.

Okay it was all good except for the butler who, also named in the will - behind the cats (illegitimate grandkids) - wanted them gone - do you hear me? gone. I've counted 8 racist pr sexist undertones thus far, just counting :)

So anyway, the butler, also representing the irritated factor within racism, travels far away and disposes, or thinks he is disposing of a problem, the pet cat and her three little illegitimate kids by tossing their asses into a ditch. The mother and the children though being in a different place among different surroundings survived by hooking up with an alley cat (enter: black man) that - well, let's just say has a way with the ladies - and also not ready to settle down. Well he romances her a little as he takes her back to her owner in the city, to civility, normal well bred folks, not black.

On this trip back to civility it's understood that she wants desperately to get back home because she loves her owner, and he loves the free liberal uncommitted lifestyle, ahem, black life. So he saves her kids from death several times and dines them on some low-class food, that she loves - and right before, right before she gets home - back on the outskirts of the city - O'Malley the Alley Cat i.e. Black Man convinces her to pad up with him in his bachelor pad for the night since it was late - she fell. This rich white girl was tucking her kids in for the night in an abandoned apartment, in the ghetto, falling in love or lust- SETTLING, and right before they f, ahem, mate the scene is cut.

So now she's pregnant with a second batch of illegitimate kids by a second black man that has absolutely no desire to have kids with her, nor see her ever again. So she arrives back at home and her illegitimate kids are banging and crying at the door, but the rich white girl hangs back to tell O’Malley the Alley Cat, BD, 'Good-bye'. But he starts oohing and awwing about how fancy the place was, implying he'd stay around if she wanted. She tried to act like it was hard - but why would she leave her lifestyle, and her family/ society wouldn't accept their union - plus she doesn't want to impart on her inheritance. She shot the deuce. So the little illegitimate kids and the fresh banged rich white girl pry their way in the house and are nabbed yet again by the butler, also the irritated factor within racism. The butler, despite their cries, hides the rich pregnant white girl and three little illegitimate children in an oven. The mother runs downstairs from a deep, deep, deep slumber because she hears her lost or misguided pet/ daughter and her illegitimate children hollering and screaming at the door - the butler argues that she is mistaken - she hasn't heard a m'er f''in thang. He puts her back to sleep, and goes back downstairs.

This is some bullshit, some bullshit. If you don't hear this then I guess I'll apologize for recognizing non-existent racism. Once downstairs the butler i.e., the irritated factor within racism, and named second - soon to be 1st - in the will, has boxed up the cats including the pregnant mother cat and her three little illegitimate children and labeled the box TIMBUKTU, AFRICA. Fuk that. Hell naw, AFRICA?!?!?!?!? that is so fucked up.
Well the story goes on just a bit. Sorry for taking this much time already. so anyway, a proper mouse that had good dealings with the rich white girl, finds O’Malley the black man because who else would/could save her, but a rough cat that could benefit some by saving them? O’Malley directs the proper mouse to the alley to round up his gang of homies to come help him deal with this ish. Reluctant yes, but the mouse finds his way through the muck and goo of the ghetto, back to the place where the rich white girl was bedding down just the previous night - is accepted by the gang because he knows O’Malley and leads them back just in time to kick the butler's ass and throw HIM in the box labeled AFRICA, which is picked up and taken away by the postman.

The mother, awaken finally, is gracious, thanking O'Malley the alley cat i.e., the oversexed black man and father of her precious pet's second litter of little illegitimate kittens for bringing her back at all......could have raped and murdered, pimped out, and/or chopped them up in bits and pieces - never to be seen again! She accepts him though giving him the side-eye, adds O'Malley to the will, having never looked for or hardly caring that the butler was gone. The story ends.

There's a second part I'm sure they never released. The butler either bursts out of that box to come home and murder everybody and expose all of this bi-racial whoring and whatnot. OR O'Malley eventually leaves because this is not really what he wants. They play classical piano, don't cuss, don't drink or smoke - not at all what he's about. But the rich white girl's mother dies and somehow the rich white girl does too and he gets everything - the kids grow up to be little O’Malley’s and the girl has a couple litters - all different colors. That could just go on forever.

Obviously I have a problem with this cat being portrayed as a loving and protective mother to three kittens and no father around - like she made them herself. And I hate they made the rough little boy kitten black. I hate that O’Malley wanted to stay around once he saw how nice the cats were living. I hated that the box was labeled AFRICA. I hated everything. I'd heard some years ago that there were some undertones to the Wizard of Oz. I never looked, but my eyes are open now.
